Amar Hussain steps in as new Managing Director as Gareth Henderson departs

Amar Hussain will become our new managing director after our founder Gareth Henderson has announced his decision to leave to allow him to focus full time on his facilities management business Orchard FM.

Hussain will step into the position vacated by Henderson from his current role as commercial director and will commence duties on 1st June 2017.

Henderson steps down following 13 years in the role, having founded the company in 2004.

Henderson said: “I am delighted that Amar has been appointed as managing director and am confident that he is the right man to take the business forward and develop new strategic plans to ensure its continued growth.

“Amar and I will work closely together in the weeks and months ahead to ensure that the business, as well as our customers, continue to benefit from the stability and strength developed over previous years.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have been a part of the business over the years, and who have worked closely with me to build Orchard into the success it has become.

“Having established Orchard Energy from the back bedroom of my home and watched it grow since then, I look forward to the company continuing to go from strength to strength.“

Michael McMahon, PLC board director of Orchard Energy, said: “I would like to congratulate Gareth on his achievements during the last 13 years and thank him for his service. Further I would like to wish him well as he steps into new opportunities.

“Since Gareth founded Orchard Energy in 2004, the business has flourished and expanded across the UK, with offices in Newcastle, Glasgow, and Bristol.

“Gareth believes that now is the time to move on to pursue new ventures and so I am delighted to confirm the promotion of Amar Hussain as his successor.”

Amar Hussain joined Orchard Energy in 2006 and has since progressed from his initial role as business development manager to becoming an associate director.

He became commercial director in 2013, playing a key role during the recent rebrand process, and helping to establish Orchard Energy as the leading energy management specialist in the UK.
